A New Year’s Eve Party Invitation That Starts the Night
A gathering begins long before the first guest rings the bell. In fact, it begins with the invitation, the moment your guests first learn something special is coming.
Somewhere along the way, many of us started hosting by group text: a date, a time, “come by if you can.” This set is an invitation to do it differently. So let’s fall in love with hospitality again, starting with the right invitation.
What Makes a Good Invitation
I design every invitation in my library to give your guests five things:
- A purpose. Why are we gathering? Not just “a party,” but what this night is for.
- The details. Date, time, and place, stated clearly.
- Answers to what they’re wondering. Should I eat beforehand? What should I wear? Can I bring something? A thoughtful invitation answers these before anyone has to ask.
- A way to respond. A clear RSVP and a reply-by date show guests you’re counting on them. That way, you can plan with confidence.
- The anticipation. Sometimes the getting there is the best part. For example, a hint of what the evening will feel like lets guests look forward to it the moment they open the invitation.
Why the Thank-You Card Matters
Finally, there’s one more thing: a thank-you. How a gathering ends matters as much as how it begins. A thank-you card brings the evening to a close. In addition, it tells every guest they were part of something worth remembering. The invitation and the thank-you are the bookends of a gathering. That is why this set includes both.
The New Morning
The thank-you card shows the same room the next morning. The glasses are empty, the cat is asleep on the chair, and what’s left is gratitude. In the end, it’s a gentle way to close the evening and say thank you for ringing in the new year with us.
How This Invitation Sets the Night
- The purpose: to see the year out together, with the people who made it a good one.
- The details: [DATE], [TIME], at [HOST NAME] – [HOST ADDRESS].
- What they’re wondering: It’s a house party, not a seated dinner. Because there will be small bites, so guests can come lightly fed rather than starving. Meanwhile, the drinks are flowing, with champagne at midnight. As for the dress, it’s dressy but not formal: think your favorite black dress, not black tie.
- The response: RSVP by [DATE] to [PHONE/EMAIL].
- The anticipation: Before guests read a single word, the dark striped wallpaper, the arched mirror, and the champagne tower tell them this is a night worth dressing up for.
How It Works:
First, add the invitation to your cart and check out right here on the site. Next, you’ll receive a link to an editable Canva template with both cards. Then personalize your details and print at home or share digitally.
New Year’s Eve is $9.00. This is a digital download, so no physical item will ship. Because digital delivery is instant, all sales are final.
Plan the Rest of the Evening
Pair it with Snacks for Dinner by Lukas Volger for the appetizer table and Bubbly by Colleen Jeffers for the champagne tower. Some links on this page are Amazon affiliate links. As a result, clicking one takes you to Amazon, and I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Restoring hospitality, one invitation and one table at a time.
